The Science of Self Realization

The Science of Self Realization is a book by His Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.

It is about practicing yoga in the modern age. Topics include:

Reincarnation:  WE are not this body. Even in this life, we change bodies several times. Our cells are regenerated, our shape changes.

Death: What happens at the EXACT moment of death? Why are we alive one moment and not the next? What changes? The soul leaves the body.

I found, and very much enjoy the following video. Its easy to understand and very good.
 Check it out!

New oils Arborvitae and Cardamom
New Skin Care Line
New Breath Formulation and Drops (lozenges)

I have never been to anything like it and I would go even if I wasn't trying to make a business out of this. Its just so much great information, so many pretty things, well planned events. I loved every second of it!

Enjoy some pictures until I get real with all the radical info.

Cracked Foot Lotion

When someone you love asks for help for a problem and you have actual tools at your fingertips that will work, there is no better feeling. Tonight I was tasked with the problem of dry, cracked feet. I looked on everythingessential.me to get some inspiration. But my gut also told me to go for the lemongrass. Lemongrass is the only thing I used for a bad toe infection in my 11 year old. I used it twice and it was gone. I used Lemongrass for its antiseptic properties, and it is specifically known to help sore aching feet! Myrrh goes in the mix as it subdues swelling and promotes tissue regeneration. Last, Frankincense for it's effective wound healing, and for it's synergistic teamwork with other oils to help them exceed their individual benefits.
Recipe:
1/4 cup emulsifying wax
1/4 cup organic coconut oil
1/4 cup shea butter
30 drops lemongrass EO
20 drops myrrh EO
20 drops frankincense EO
1 Cup hot distilled water

Melt wax, coconut oil, and shea butter together. Add the doTerra Lemongrass, Myrrh, and Frankincense CPTG oils, stir vigorously with a skewer stick. Add hot water & pour mixture into lotion bottle. Shake frequently as it cools, otherwise it will separate.

Soak feet in an Epsom Salt bath for 20 min. Remove feet from water, and dry well. Apply Cracked Foot Lotion to feet, then cover with socks. Repeat nightly until severe cracking is resolved. Then use weekly as a preventative.

Vaishnava Vegan Chili

1 28oz can diced tomato
1 28oz can crushed tomato
1 15oz can tomato sauce (I use fred meyer brand simple truth organic with no garlic or onion)
1 full package of Mexican Regular Chili Powder. 1oz
1 cup TVP (textured vegetable protein)
12 oz pack of frozen corn
1 chopped red bell pepper
1/2 chopped orange bell pepper
2 cans black bean
3 cans pinto's
2 Tbsp dry oregano
1 Tbsp cumin
1 Tbsp coriander
salt to taste

Directions: put 1 can of black & 1 can of pinto beans in the blender with their juice, add the oregano, blend, set aside

Open up all the cans of tomato and put them in your pot. add chili powder, cumin, salt, coriander. bring to a boil, then keep at a hot simmer.

Meanwhile, chop up the peppers and heat up a skillet with some coconut oil (optional). sautee the peppers on high until they are nice and tender/browned. Add this to the pot. add the blended beans at this time too.

Add the TVP to the pot and stir.

There should be 3 cans of beans left. Open them and drain/rinse them. Let the pot simmer for around 10 min before adding the beans & corn. add a cup of water to the pot when you add the bean & corn if it seems ridiculously thick.
let it simmer on low for 30 min or so. then let it cool with no lid for another 30.

Connections Academy

We've been thinking for a while now about homeschooling our kids. Many, if not most of the the western families a the temple homeschool. Some of the Indian families do to. Corbin got into a REALLY good school as part of the Options Program. It's 30 minutes away and they bus him each way. Totally free normal public school. It's a K - 8 and he's in 6th grade. If he didn't get in there, the neighborhood middle school SUCKS. I hate middle school it is torture. Little kids in a high school setting when they're not old enough for high school. Lockers, 6+ different classes every day. And with class sizes out of control to where there are kids sitting on the floor in some math classes. A kid like Corbin would be LOST in middle school and I just wasn't happy about him going there. So we tried for the options program and got in to this rad school. Its in a rich neighborhood, and for that neighborhood, it's their school. It's very new--just opened in '09. HUGE and beautiful. The 6th grade is broken into 2 'homerooms' and they do most everything together with the other class. 2 teachers; one for math & science, one for humanities & writing. Together, they go on "Expeditions"--Field trips where they do field studies. Like to the forest to make observations and do writings about their findings. All good stuff.

SO: About homeschooling. I was really wanting to do it if Corbin didn't get into that school. But he did and I still kind of wanted to. Only I don't want him to miss out. But he's struggling bad in math and it seems like I'm helping him a lot and I'm no expert either! It would be nice if I were doing it with him all along. And then the struggle has brought to light that I don't really like the whole system they use. Like, he'll be like 6 assignments behind, we'll get him caught up, but then like, he never has to turn anything in so who's to know anyway? If THAT's the way they're gonna do it, we can just do all of that on our own! and we can do field trips, and he can take art classes and sports and clubs too! One of the Indian families who does homeschooling lives across the street from Corbin's school, and the kids go in for specials like PE and clubs they like.

The Connections Academy is a FREE public online school for K - 12. So it's the best of both worlds: Homeschooling and public live school. So we're not just flailing on our own. I have to be the learning coach and log in every day. He has to attend virtual classes on a schedule with other kids. I'm getting info on it. Seems VERY interesting to me.

New Years Post

I only made one resolution and it was totally private like I didn't tell anyone and it is this: I am going to write in a blog every day.  So here's this one right now.

Vegan Devotee:

We were vegan for well over a year--kids also. It was hard but not the worst. Then we started going to the Temple. Mike and I have always leaned toward this spiritual path, we just finally made the plunge and started doing the PRACTICE. Chanting rounds, associating with other devotees, eating Prasadam, following the Four Regulative Principals... There is a wonderful, tender, and symbiotic relationship between us and the mother cow. I believe that and I'm all for it. I just don't want to participate in the mass produced Factory Farm Dairy system. So for about 8 months we attended the temple, and ate the food served and I knew it had dairy products in it, but we were still vegan outside the temple. Then Mike did some research and really thought adding milk back into at least the kids diets would be good. But I wanted to be sure we do the best for our family AND cows! I was put in touch with a raw milk dairy and we went to visit about a month ago. It's a family farm, the husband, wife and kids do all the work. We can visit any time we want and see the cows. They're gorgeous and we got to hug and pet a calf (SO CUTE!). The milk is really good and so fresh. I've been making Paneer, and I really want to try mozzerella.

doTerra:

The same friend who intro'd me to the Raw Milk Dairy, introduced me to doTerra. I had already been dabbling in essential oils from the store and other online sources. I made my own lotions and other goodies using them. But doTerra oils are THE BEST and I was sold on using them the moment I tried a blend on a wart on Simeons foot and it WORKED. I have seen these oils work like magic in my home and I love sharing them with others. The sharing part of it has turned into a business opportunity for me. It is network marketing but the big difference is: if there were no business opportunity attached, would I still buy the products? YES I sure would. The stuff is legit and it empowers people to be the healers in their own home. I'm loving it. My girls already have 5 classes scheduled this month. I need to get one in there too, and start teaching!!!  Such an exciting time.
